Experience

After 30 years in industry, public accounting and consulting Neil’s passion is still to coach businesses to realise their full potential.

Neil knows that success in business is primarily defined by growth. He knows what makes some businesses successful, what holds others back, and what consigns many more to the scrap heap. He knows that as a business grows and a raft of opportunities emerges, so too does a raft of problems. He knows what strategies are available to fix the problems and make the most of the opportunities, so that the business can move to the next economic size and survive to reap the rewards.

Neil has worked with just about every kind of SME business there is, and knows the issues that effect business operators in different sectors. He understands that no matter what sectors you operate in, successful businesses all require the same qualities, and that, with coaching and focus; any business can develop those qualities.

That’s Neil’s purpose – to help businesses develop the skills, systems and processes they need to get where they want to go.

Over the years he has recognised that many business people are unclear on exactly what it is they are hoping to achieve from, and for, their business, so this is the starting point. He helps clarify the purpose, construct the plans and strategies, and stick around to help coach and implement. These strategies will cover areas such as customer care, marketing, defining core differentiators and sustainable competitive advantage, team building and financial capability.

But businesses at different stages have different aims and priorities and need different strategies for achieving them. Neil can help develop strategies for succession planning, preparing businesses for sale, developing long-term profitability and value or short-term capital growth - to name but a few.

Neil will complete his MBA at Monash University this year, a four year journey to make sure his business knowledge and experience has kept pace with contemporary teaching. The driving force behind undertaking this commitment has been his firm belief that you must always be prepared to learn and tune you mind to new ways of thinking and problem solving. To be a great advisor you must have an absolute conviction that your advice is sound, practical and considered. Ongoing learning and an open, enquiring mind are essential to meet the challenges of a business world driven by constant technological change, innovation and competitor pressure.
